Pan Pacific Hotels Group Provides 20,000 Meals for Needy Families during Covid-19 Circuit Breaker
13 May 2020, Singapore – Aligned with its core philosophy of care towards the community and with the support of its parent company UOL Group Limited, Pan Pacific Hotels Group (PPHG) has converted a kitchen facility and channeled its operations teams to provide over 20,000 meals to low-income families with children on home-based learning till 1 June 2020. This is part of PPHG’s “From Our Hearts” initiative, which aims to help meet community needs through the company’s corporate giving programmes and volunteerism efforts.
To unlock capacity for meals provision, PPHG’s culinary teams rallied together to convert PARKROYAL on Beach Road’s banquet kitchen into a temporary halal-certified facility within a short span of time, enabling it to dish out over 600 meals each day for Muslim households identified by Care Singapore and Children’s Society during the Ramadan season till 1 June 2020.
This is an expansion of PPHG’s initial efforts to provide over 200 meals for beneficiaries from St. Andrew’s Autism Centre and Holy Innocents’ High School, prepared by Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant at TOP of UOB Plaza daily since 13 April 2020.

Ms Wee Wei Ling, Executive Director, Asset, Lifestyle & Corporate Social Responsibility, Pan Pacific Hotels Group, said, “We have always believed that corporates have a role to play in meeting community needs and over the years, have championed numerous inclusivity and community engagement programmes. With our current efforts, we aim to foster a greater sense of solidarity and compassion among our associates as we continue to extend practical help by putting nutritious meals on the tables of families who require assistance during these times of crisis.”
PPHG’s provision of meals is part of Project Makan[1], organised by Social Kitchen at YMCA and SHINE Children & Youth Services to benefit low-income families with children whose access to free or subsidised meals in schools are disrupted during Singapore’s extended circuit breaker. Thoughtfully planned to provide the children and their families with a balanced diet, the meals are packed in convenient bento boxes and delivered to their homes by Project Makan’s delivery partners.
