Pan Pacific Singapore and The RICE Company present Mini Monet Series, a children’s art showcase featuring a collection of 45 artworks by 27 young budding artists aged 9 to 13 years old. The exhibition, taking place from 31 January 2020 to 29 April 2020 at the hotel’s Public Art Space, comprises three different thematic series: Colour Burst, Rhythmic Patterns and Fun with Lines.
Mini Monet is an advanced visual arts programme at The Little Arts Academy, an arts training centre which seeks to provide equal opportunities for all children to pursue the arts and managed by The RICE Company Limited, a charity with IPC status.
Colour Burst
This series revolves around children telling their stories through drawing, painting, or crafting. Their creations are like intricate labyrinths into the depths of their minds, sometimes revealing their biggest desires and challenges. For some, the process of art-making energises them, evoking excitement and fascination. For others, it is a therapeutic journey that brings calm and tranquillity. Visitors can look forward to fascinating pieces such as “Mythical World” by 11-year-old Gary Kang Yong Joon that depicts his interest in colours and nature, as well as “Fragments of Memories” by 12-year-old Ra’biah Adawiyah Mohamad Shafiee which evokes a sense of calm as she draws inspiration from the beautiful memories of nature.
Rhythmic Patterns
The second series depicts artworks reflecting a unique perspective of the many hidden patterns that can be found in our surroundings. They are also an expression of how children see beauty in the ordinary. With their vivid imagination, they create a new dimension filled with endless possibilities. Using creative patterns and vibrant colours, the young artists invite attendees to relook at what is conventional and make new discoveries with innovative ways of pattern recognition. Visitors can expect several mood-lifting pieces including the imaginative “Fluffy, Yummy Goodies” by 11-year-old Choo Jing Wen showcasing a scenery in her ideal fantasyland filled with her favourite sweets as well as “World of Colours” by 9-year-old Mea Maryam-Mirza where the young artist reimagines an ocean where air bubbles are like bubble-gum and flowers can grow.
Fun with lines
Fun with Lines is an excursion into the children’s imaginative worlds and by extrapolation, a view into their hobbies, interests and greatest desires. From accidental paint splatters, to hidden shapes and energetic musical beats, these young budding artists have sought inspiration from everyday interactions that inspired them to put their imagination onto canvas. Some of the artworks featured include “The Japanese Me” by 12-year-old Elizabella Cha Jia Ying inspired by her nickname “little Japanese doll” and “Space Crystals” by 11-year-old Ng Yan Ci which depicts the exploration of her emotions through concepts of space and galaxy.
Augmented Reality
Adding an exciting dose of interactivity, attendees will also be able to witness some of the artworks animated through Augmented Reality when viewed through the Artivive App via smartphone or tablet.
Visitors are welcome to view the beautiful pieces by the talented young artists at this complimentary art exhibition. Mini Monet Series will be on showcase 11:00am to 8:00pm daily from 31 January 2020 to 29 April 2020 at the Public Art Space, Level 2 of Pan Pacific Singapore.
